IFSO Wiki
Welcome to the IFSO wiki. A wiki for information and collaboration on topics relating to the Irish Free Software Organisation (
homepage)
A WikiWikiWeb is a collaborative hypertext environment, with an emphasis on easy access to and modification of information. The IFSO wiki is based on the free MoinMoin wiki engine.
News: The wiki engine has been upgraded to the most recent version. As a side-effect we got some anti-spam measures so we're able to turn public editing back on. You no longer need to be logged in to contribute to the wiki. In addition there is a nifty new default theme that looks much nicer, and a slew of new features.
update (2007 12 19): Spammers have become more sophisticated. Again. Until I implement a better solution page edits are disabled for most users. If you want to have edits enabled please email Glenn. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Update: the anti spam features should now actually be working!
Further update: Yes somehow the same spammers keep getting through. We have not had a valid anonymous edit in over a year, and every day I have to revert spam. I have therefore disabled anonymous edits temporarily until we can find a better solution. Registration is open to all, please make an account if you wish to edit.
If you are new to wikis, play in the WikiSandBox first; that's a page intended for you to experiment with. Read the HelpForBeginners as well.
If you are going to edit pages (other than the sandbox), please consider creating an account. Ideally you should create an account using your real name, formatted as a WikiName, for example GlennStrong (this form of username is common practice on many wikis and it seems to work well - see
UseRealNames over at
MeatballWiki for more information). If you are not logged in you can create a new user by following the UserPreferences link (just there, or at the top-right of the page). Feel free to edit or create pages for anything to do with IFSO; the wiki is quite new so there is plenty of scope to add information.
Problems? Contact the someone in the AdminGroup for assistance.

Using the wiki
You can edit any page by pressing the link at the bottom of the page. Capitalized words joined together form a WikiName, which hyperlinks to another page. The highlighted title searches for all pages that link to the current page. Pages which do not yet exist are linked with a question mark: just follow the link and you can add a definition.
To get an overview over this site and what it contains, see the SiteNavigation page.

MoinMoin is a Python
WikiClone, based on
PikiPiki. The name is a common German slang expression explained on the MoinMoin page. If you run a Wiki using MoinMoin, please add it to the
MoinMoinWikis page. Contributed code is on the
MacroMarket,
ActionMarket and
ParserMarket pages. For more details and further topics, see the MoinMoin page.
