2. DRAFT Workplan 2005

What does IFSO want to achieve in 2005? What are the priority areas on which IFSO should be concentrating? To help focus thoughts and activities and to allocate persons who will see them through, the draft workplan will be discussed at the AGM. This is a selection of things that we may or may not want to do, partly taken from the IFSO [WWW] To Do list. Or please add your own ideas.

There are two categories: internal/organisational-type tasks and external/promotion activities.

Internal

1. Online payments

Description: Establish a facility for online payment of membership fees, t-shirts, etc.

2. P.O. Box

Description: Organise a PO Box number and collection of mail

3. Webmaster

Description: To co-ordinate website structure, design, etc.

4. Document license for the web site

Description: Discussed in [WWW] June, [WWW] September and [WWW] October 2004.

External

5. New membership promotion

Description: Pro-active promotion of membership. Do we want to set a target for number of new members?

6. Fundraising (or combine with membership above?)

Description: Actively seek donors

7. IFSO promotion

Description: Keep IFSO promotional materials up-to-date e.g. flyer, write press releases as and when, etc.

8. IFSO position papers?

Description: Co-ordinate the writing of short IFSO positions on key topics e.g. software patents. Useful for journalists and others who want brief info?

9. Become an associate member of FSF Europe

Description: Make an application for IFSO to become an associate of FSF-E.

10. Endorsement of free software by student unions

Description: Liase with SUs

11. Promote open formats for documents?

12. Getting free software into...education / charities

Description: From the To Do list. Any takers for 2005? Any other sectors?

13. Events?

Description: To co-ordinate IFSO presence when IFSO is asked to take part in events. Any events planned in 2005 at which IFSO should be present or participate e.g. Software Freedom Day 10.9.2005.
