IFSO Web Pages
Some decisions have been recorded in SiteGuidelines.
Glitches due to transition
This section is for missing files, broken links, or other glitches that were probably caused by the transition to the new directory layout. Most issues mentioned here are now fixed, so I plan to soon dump all the non-issues to a section at the bottom of this page.
Pages to add
Page that collects mentions of "Ifso In The Press"
I've made a wikipage: ActionAftermath, which is of similar goal but wider scope - but that's a wiki page, not part of the IFSO website. --CiaranOriordan
If we got into the habit, such information would be useful under the projects page
Events - Indymedia, Stallman, Tiemann, Greve, etc.
Page about open formats, open office, xiph.org, etc
T-shirts page
Information to add somewhere

Questions by and for webmaster
Question: Should we use proper e-mail addresses or use "contact at ifso dot ie"? I'm not a huge fan of using images for this purpose.
It's an anti-spam measure. It may not actually be needed.
For the moment, we're using an obfuscated form.
We are currently listing contact details by giving people's personal email addresses. Would it be more sensible to list "webmaster@", "secretary@", etc. aliases? The addresses for positions would then be permanent across personnel changes.
Yes. Done. - MalcolmTyrrell
Would it look better if old minutes were on the main site, rather than the wiki?
I think so. The minutes, and the main site contents, are legitimate IFSO documents. The wiki is a community free for all tool. This a line we have to keep unblurred. I think this philosophy is shared by the rest of the committee, so it's probably just a matter of someone (like me) doing it. I'll give it a go at 18h00 Irish time. --CiaranoRiordan
Done:
http://www.ifso.ie/documents/#documents - MalcolmTyrrell Great! Can I suggest we think about separating content like minutes from content like briefing documents for MEP's? I think it's not good to have them all mixed in like that. -- GlennStrong
Not sure I get you; they are on different subpages. Are you suggesting there is no role for a node above all those various type of documents? -MalcolmTyrrell
The suggestion is that minutes are different to briefing documents and letters; they are intended more for internal consumption. When advertise the documents/ url we are now advertising the minutes as well. The meetings page would seem a more appropriate place to me, no? -- GlennStrong
Currently we don't have a meetings page. I could certainly make one. Should I? -- MalcolmTyrrell
Question: One of the arguments for using a more nested directory structure was so that people could trim URLs for broader info. Currently trimming a URL gives you a 403. Can this be fixed?
http://www.ifso.ie/documents/ seems to work, but
http://www.ifso.ie/documents/correspondence/ is 403 Permission Denied --CiaranoRiordan
I think there is now enough correspondence to warrant a seperate page. I have made such a change. How does it look. I think documents now looks a little sparse. Any suggestions? -MalcolmTyrrell.
In general I don't subscribe to the philosophy that "the customer may always trim". -MalcolmTyrrell
But it's not your choice, the browser lets people trim and some of them will. Why not give them the page they expect. -- GlennStrong
